Umai-Ya, Damansara Utama

I’ve had wanted to bring Leslie to Umai-Ya since I myself went there for a friend’s birthday quite some time back. However, the previous time I brought him there, we went at about 4pm. Little did I know, Umai-Ya is only open for lunch and dinner, and not in-between...hehehehe. So this time, we make sure we went at dinner time, 6pm!!!

Leslie’s first impression of Umai-Ya – where is the entrance??? ahahahaha. Yes, we are one of those idiots who could not locate the entrance…who knows the wooden thing with rattan thingy sticking all over is the door…duh….

But once we sat down & ordered, everything was fine ;- )

We started off with the Spicy Tofu Salad, nice but nothing spectacular.
Next came Roppongi Beef Maki. Who would have thought of putting beef on sushi. However the combination works & the outcome is this wonderful burst of flavor which is simply to die for.

We also tried Hawaii Maguro Sushi. Emm....I dunno, but the tuna is a bit hard (yes, I knw tuna is suppose to be hard...duh) and not that flavourful.
For me, a Japanese meal is never complete without Salmon Sashimi. I must say, the salmon are just so fresh. I can feel them melting in my mouth. So absolutely wonderful.

Leslie had a rice dish, Oyako Don. Chicken, eggs, onions on rice. He loved it but, the eggs were a bit raw so, I skipped that.

Finally, dessert, wasabi ice-cream!! I didn’t really know what to expect but, much to my surprise, it was actually quite good.

All in all, a great night out. Excellent meal, not too heavy but oh-so flavourful.
